How I Spent My Summer

Hello Folks!  I haven’t blogged in a while, but intent on doing more in the coming months – in addition to some new exercise videos.

Just a few quick thoughts as I sit at my desk waiting for my first patient of the post-summer schedule:

  • While I worked throughout most of the summer, I managed to stay active and incorporated some new exercises/activities:
    • Swimming!  I did lots of swimming – some front-crawl (a.k.a. “free-style” for you Olympians), but mostly just horsing around in the pool, throwing my son into the deep end, over and over and over.
    • Canoeing! We spent the long weekend up at Camp Arowhon in Algonquin Nation Park, and part of our adventure included a canoe trip.  It was a great shoulder work out and I felt the good burn of it the next few days.
    • Cycling!  Lots of cycling – usually to get ice-cream so I figure they balanced each other out.
    • Wall-Climbing!  At Camp Arowhon, I climbed a rock wall for the first time in a long time.  Nathan climbed first and made it to the top, so I had a lot of pressure on me.  Inspired by my FRC community which has some accomplished climbers, I used my mobility training to good use and made it to the top in record speed.
    • It was a great summer, filled with hot, good weather, and lots of activity.  I’m feeling good, and ready to start the final third of the 2018 year.
